Maryland Adventures: Ella's Enchanted Treehouses

 Camping is a very popular activity for residents of Maryland. From a cozy cabin in the woods to a tent by the ocean, the state has dozens of places where you can spend a night under the stars. But have you ever slept in the trees? A vacation community near Deep Creek called Ella’s Enchanted Treehouses lets visitors enjoy a quiet camping experience inside a real treehouse. Treehouse vacation homes are part of a global trend travel trend creating glamp-worthy vacation homes up in the trees. Ella’s Enchanted Treehouses has four treehouses to choose from, all complete with plumbing, heating and all the modern conveniences.

The Treehouses

The treehouse cabins are built about 10 feet above the ground on stilts. Each fully furnished treehouse has a kitchen, bathroom, living room and sleeping areas. Treehouses also have fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs so you can tell stories by the fire. Two of the houses, “The Gathering Tree” and “The DayDreamer sleep six people with two bedrooms and one bathroom. A smaller unit, “The Eagles Nest” sleeps six and “The Cozy Spruce” is a one-bedroom, one-bath treehouse designed for couples.

Area Attractions

Ella’s Enchanted Treehouses is located in Bittinger, Md., about 15 minutes from Deep Creek Lake State Park. The treehouse cabins are open year-round and can accommodate skiers in the winter and adventurers in the summer. Visitors can tour eight state parks, enjoy boating, fishing and water skiing at Deep Creek Lake or relax at Wisp Resort. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are plenty of restaurants nearby where you can get takeout or indulge in a gourmet meal.

Booking

Treehouse rentals start at $325 per night with a two-night minimum. Towels and linens are included but like many remote locations, Wifi isn’t available. Fulton Turkey Farm Prepping for Thanksgiving

Sho Nuf Turkey Farm is taking orders for Thanksgiving. If you’re a long-time resident of Howard County, you probably know all about Sho Nuf Turkey Farm in Fulton. You may have even stopped by during Thanksgiving week to pick up a fresh, locally raised turkey for your holiday table. Much of the farm’s original land is now part of Maple Lawn, the master-planned community filled with townhomes, condos, and single-family homes.
